Floating Bearing
Problem Statement: Material must remain in continuous contact with roller drive mechanism to ensure the integrity of the operation and control of the material.
Background: We are transferring flexible material that has a tendency to bend through a machine which cuts the material in various directions. It is critical for the drive rollers to be in contact with the material at all times.
Solution: Design a bearing assembly that has one shaft in a fixed position and the second bearing in a floating position.
Results: The “floating” shaft is allowed to move and force the material to conform to the operation of the drive mechanism.
